Randall Frieling
Pianist Randall Frieling has performed throughout North America and Europe as a soloist, accompanist and chamber musician. He received his undergraduate degree from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan and his Master’s Degree in Piano Performance from the Indiana University School of Music in Bloomington, Indiana. He completed his Doctorate at Ball State University. His Grandmother Minnie VanWieren started his piano training.
Frieling has taught piano and organ for 34 years at three Indiana Universities. As a soloist, accompanist and a chamber musician he has toured the United States and Europe. He served as accompanist for the summer program of the American Boy Choir School. Frieling regularly accompanied the Indiana Choral Directors Association State Convention. He continues to perform and organize The Holly and the Ivy Christmas Concert in December at the Historic Indiana Landmarks Theatre in Indianapolis. He has performed on PBS televised broadcasts and was a featured performer on Indiana Public Radio. Frieling has made concerto appearances with orchestras in the Midwest. He is a regular accompanist for the National Youth Choir at Carnegie Hall. After a concert, international pianist Maurice Hinson said, “Frieling is absolutely superb….a formidable pianist with expressive musicianship.”
He is currently the Director of Music and Worship Arts and Organist at the First Presbyterian Church in Mount Dora, Florida, where he leads the Sanctuary Choir, Ensembles and the Jubilate Handbell Choir. In his spare time, he teaches piano at the Montverde Academy.
