The Prodigal Son – A Story of Grace and Restoration

Luke 15:11–32

In one of the most beloved parables Jesus ever told, we meet a wayward son and a father whose love knows no limits. The younger son, impatient and restless, asks for his share of the inheritance and leaves home to chase after the world. He squanders everything in wild living and ends up broken and hungry, longing even for the food given to pigs.

But when he “comes to his senses,” he remembers his father—not as a harsh judge, but as someone kind enough that even his servants live better than he does now. So he returns home, ready to beg for a servant's place.

Instead of shame, he is met with compassion. His father runs to him, embraces him, and celebrates his return with a feast. The father doesn’t just forgive—he restores his son fully, clothing him with the best robe and placing a ring on his finger.

Meanwhile, the older brother struggles with bitterness. He has always obeyed, and yet he feels overlooked. But the father gently reminds him: “You are always with me, and all that is mine is yours. But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found”
